Depressed and not sure what to do...

I think I might be depressed. I am unsatisfied with my life, I feel out of I don't know |
Erin's advice
The first thing to do, is to thank yourself for reaching out. It's not easy to admit or even recognize that you're feeling depressed, and you've shown you have courage, and the will to change how you feel, which is a great start to feeling better. There are times in our lives when we've come to the end of the road in terms of knowing how to fix or change things - these are the times when you lean on others for help.
What you need is to talk to someone you can trust, to help you figure out why you're feeling this way. It's understandable that you don't want to confide in your parents, but you can rest assured they would absolutely want to know how you're feeling, and they'd want to help you. The fact that you're having suicidal thoughts means you're reaching a point where you can't try to suppress your feelings any longer.
If you cannot confide in your parents, then talking to a school counselor is a great option. Most schools have a system in place to help kids who are feeling exactly like you do. Another option you can try is a toll-free help line, where you can call and talk to someone one-on-one anonymously. These people can also help you get help in your area. Look in the phone book or online and do a search of counseling services in your area.
Remember that depression, especially when coupled with suicidal thoughts, will not go away on its own. You need to take action and take care of yourself right now - there's no reason for you to have to feel this way.
